Justina Ford, M.D.

Born with two strikes against her, Dr. Justina Ford overcame barriers of race and gender to become the first African- American woman to practice medicine in Colorado and delivered over 7,000 babies. In 1950, just two years before her death, she was inducted into the Colorado Women’s Hall of fame. Colorado Experience traces the life and legacy of one of the state’s most inspiring medical pioneers.
