RAMON DEL CASTILLO
Professor and Chair of the Chicana/o Studies Department at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Ramon del Castillo is also an activist and poet. Here, he recites his poem, Take Me Back to Aztlan. Aztlan is a term used to descibe both the territory that Mexico lost to the United States in 1848 as a consequence of the Mexican-American War, and the need to preserve the original Mexican culture of those lands.

Actress, vocalist and on-air host at Denver public radio station KUVO, Debra Gallegos talks (and sings!) about the tradition of serenading friends and loved ones on their birthday with the song Las Mañanitas.
