You CAN Do It
Farmers markets can be found all over Colorado, but you can only eat so many Colorado peaches, apples and tomatoes at once. Preserve late summer's bounty by canning fresh produce. Making your own jams, sauces and pickled veggies isn't as intimidating as it sounds – and it can actually be more cost-effective.
Want to make sure you're using the best apples for that homemade apple butter? Watch "The Apple" episode of "Great Ingredients". Most canning recipes call for a squeeze of lemon juice to help preserve your produce, so be sure to watch our "Juicing Tips" from this summer's Cooks Club event. Check out "The Good Food Blog" from Colorado's Door to Door Organics for some canning basics to get you started.
